Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown toenails are a common condition which can cause ongoing pain and issues if left untreated.

An ingrown nail is when the edge of a nail penetrates through the skin around your toes and is most common of the big toes. Traumatic events to the nail or the general shape of your nail may be the causes of an ingrown toenail. Ingrown toenails can also become infected if this has occurred the toe will appear hot, red, swollen, painful to touch and even pus may be present.

Regular visits to your podiatrist may assist in reducing pain and discomfort of the nail, however in some cases if chronic or painful your podiatrist may suggest a nail surgery.
